Five Common Myths about Breast Augmentation
MYTH #1: You can’t breastfeed after having breast augmentation
Many women who want to breastfeed following breast augmentation are able to with proper consideration. Careful planning of implant and incision placement can reduce the risk of breastfeeding difficulties following implants.
MYTH #2: You will have a long recovery period.
It’s important to note that since every woman’s body is unique, there is no exact timeline for recovery. In most cases, recovery lasts about 6 to 8 weeks and women may notice that they feel perfectly fine after about a week. To ensure a smooth recovery, follow your surgeon’s instructions. Wear the recovery bra and take care for your incision sites as directed. Be sure to get plenty of rest and eat a healthy diet. In about 8 weeks, you should be fully recovered and ready to resume normal activities.
MYTH #3: Scarring is unsightly.
Dr. Bato is a skilled cosmetic surgeon and strategically hides scars so that they are less visible. He also provides scar treatment to help reduce the visibility of scars quicker.
MYTH #4: You won’t be able to feel your nipples.
While you may lose temporary sensation in the nipple as your body adjusts to the changes, the sensation will return typically.
MYTH #5: Breast implants are unsafe.
Many studies from reputable institutions have shown that breast implants do not cause breast cancer; both saline and silicone implants are safe.
